The RAC believes the short term motoring agenda for the new Government should be:
Major roads – deliver the Road Investment Strategy on time and within the agreed budget
Fuel duty – stay fair to the motorist by, as a minimum, continuing the duty freeze
Local roads – eradicate the pothole problem with a long-term strategy and funding for tackling the maintenance backlog

Following the re-appointment of Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP as Secretary of State for Transport, RAC chief engineer David Bizley said: “There is now a golden opportunity for the Transport Secretary to oversee the delivery of the commitments included in the Road Investment Strategy and in his party’s manifesto.
On 28 April 2015, the European Parliament voted to introduce eCall, the in-vehicle emergency alert system, into all new cars and light vans by the end of March 2018.
