RAC appoints David Wallace to lead drive for growth in B2B

David Wallace joins RAC as Business Services Director

The RAC has announced the appointment of David Wallace as new Business Services Director to lead the drive for growth as the business moves into the next stage of its journey.

David brings a wealth of industry experience to the role and will be responsible for leading the development of the core business-to-business (B2B) customer base, and further improving the RAC’s B2B customer-focussed services.

David joins the RAC from Epyx where he spent three years as Sales and Business Development Director and prior to that he spent 12 years at the AA where he built and led the Business Services sales team.

Speaking about his new role, David said: “What attracted me to this role is the great energy, creativity and product innovation that I see at the RAC, and the opportunity to make my own contribution to the already excellent service provided to its customers.

“The RAC is in a good position right now, on a clear journey, with a clear direction, and feels like an exciting place to be, which was very much part of my decision-making to join this iconic brand.

“Beyond that I believe the RAC has a strong core product in terms of its breakdown service, but also the range of other complementary services surrounding breakdown for our business customers.

“There is a great brand heritage at the RAC, but also now a real drive for innovation and investment in the future of the business which will further benefit our customers going forward.”

RAC Chief Executive Chris Woodhouse said: “David Wallace is very well-known to most people in and around the wider motoring sector and as such brings a huge amount of experience and industry knowledge to the role.

“He will be pivotal in securing and winning new business in the B2B sector and I’m confident that his experience will be hugely valuable to the RAC as we take our iconic brand further into the future of motoring.

“His appointment follows shortly after Nick Walker joined us as RAC UK Telematics managing director and will further strengthen the expertise and vision of our senior leadership team.”

David Wallace is married with four children, and lives in Camberley and Birmingham.

When not in front of customers, he expects to spend his time split between the three RAC sites in Walsall, Bristol and Manchester.

Government commits £24bn to road maintenance in 2025 Spending Review - RAC comment
In response to the Government's Spending Review, which commits £24bn of capital funding to road maintenance between 2026 - 2030, RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: “Giving councils the certainty of longer-term funding to fix their roads is something we’ve called for many years, so this is excellent news. Local authorities now have a golden opportunity to end the cycle of merely filling potholes and instead begin to be much more proactive in their maintenance. This must include both more surface dressing to keep decent roads in good condition and resurfacing those that are at the end of their lives. It’s incumbent on councils to grasp this new opportunity and show all road users how it’s making a genuine difference in the quality of the roads they use every day."
