RAC launches shop with 80,000 products for motorists

Products range from headlights for a 1960s VW Beetle to a car seat belt for the family dog

The RAC is today launching one of the UK’s largest online motoring accessories shops, with more than 80,000 products available, ranging from bespoke parts for some of the most-loved cars of the last five decades to accessories such as pet seat belts, custom gear knobs and much more.

The new shop (www.racshop.co.uk) includes a vehicle registration look-up to ensure that customers are buying the right part for their car – regardless of its age or marque. In addition, motorists buying a new car battery will be able to have it fitted at one of more than 400 RAC approved garages across the UK, or by an expert RAC patrol at their home or workplace if they are not confident enough to fit it themselves1.

From bulbs to car batteries, garage storage, sat-navs and socket sets, the new RAC Shop ensures motorists will be able to find everything they need to keep their car on the road and looking good.

Some of the more obscure and fun products now available from the RAC Shop include:

  • Headlight bulbs for a 1960s model VW Beetle
  • A thermostat for a 1980s model Ford Sierra
  • An alternator for a TVR Chimaera
  • An iron cross gear knob

As winter approaches motorists can choose from five winter driving kits that include products to keep them safe in case of breakdown, including hand warmers, foil blankets, warning triangles, tow-ropes – and even snow shovels.

RAC Head of retail Lynn Hayzelden said: “Motorists want the best for their car, and our aim with the RAC Shop is to provide a wide and ever-growing range of quality products – be that an essential part such as a car headlight to something more fun that might make a good birthday or Christmas present.

“It’s important for motorists to be able to buy these things from a brand they know and trust and we’ve tried to make the experience as easy as possible by including elements such as vehicle registration look-up to ensure you get the right part for your car.”

The new website, a one-stop shop for all motorists, can be found at: www.racshop.co.uk.

1 Customers can buy an RAC superior or premium battery and have it fitted at one of the RAC’s more than 400 approved garages across Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or by an RAC patrol. Both options are free for RAC members and £9.99 at an approved garage or £30 by a patrol for non-members.
