SsangYong Motors UK signs new roadside assistance contract with the RAC

The new Korando e-Motion, SsangYong's fully electric crossover

SsangYong Motors UK has signed a new contract with the RAC to provide roadside assistance services to SsangYong customers from 1 January, 2022.

The deal, which was won following a competitive tender process, will see the RAC’s patrols supporting drivers of SsangYong vehicles, and covers both consumer and fleet customers driving in the UK and 48 countries in mainland Europe.

SsangYong Motors UK selected the RAC on the basis of its quality and comprehensive service at the roadside, its constant focus on customer satisfaction and its ability to service vehicles across all powertrains.

Mark Burrows, aftersales director for SsangYong Motors UK, said:

“It is imperative to us that our customers receive an excellent, quality service from our roadside assistance partner, and RAC has a track record of this. The writing is on the wall for a shift to electric vehicles, and with the launch of our own Korando e-Motion this month, we are confident the RAC is also the right roadside assistance partner to support us with our transition into the EV market. We look forward to a successful partnership moving forwards.”

The RAC partnership will provide extensive technical knowledge of SsangYong vehicles, peace of mind for customers and is complimentary for 12 months with every new SsangYong purchase.*

John Ellis, RAC head of OEM roadside, said:

“We are very proud to have been appointed as SsangYong’s roadside assistance partner. We are keen to demonstrate our patrols’ exemplary skills in fixing four out of five breakdowns there and then which will give owners and users of their vehicles additional peace of mind should something unexpected happen on the road.

“For those breakdowns we can’t fix, our patrols are well equipped with the RAC’s unique All-Wheels-Up rapid recovery system which saves time by preventing the need to wait for a separate flatbed tow truck. This kit is also vital in the switch to electric powertrains as it can be used to recover electric vehicles safely with all four wheels off the road. The RAC is leading the field in EV breakdown with its lightweight, engine-driven EV Boost generators which are capable of getting out-of-charge or severely depleted EVs going again in around 30 minutes.”

* New vehicle registrations only. Does not apply to used vehicles.

EU’s new Entry-Exit System comes into force - RAC reaction
As the EU's new Entry-Exit System begins a phased rollout at European border points, RAC head of policy Simon Williams has the following advice for drivers: “The new EU Entry-Exit System (EES) is rolling out from 12th October, meaning drivers will need to provide fingerprints and have their photos taken when they enter or exit Schengen border crossing points. With a phased roll-out taking place until April 2026, we’re advising motorists to check the official requirements at the UK departure point they’re using before they set off, as these will differ from place to place.
