Following the Met Office's rare amber weather warning for Storm Darragh, RAC Breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: “This relatively rare amber warning must be taken extremely seriously by drivers as it affects a huge stretch of the west coast on Saturday, from Scotland to Cornwall and Northern Ireland. If possible, those in affected areas should avoid driving or consider bringing their journeys forward so they aren’t caught out in the worst weather. It’s best to steer clear of exposed routes where the likelihood of being blown off course is very high, slow down so you have more control over your vehicle and look out for debris on the road like fallen branches or other dangerous objects. Parking under or near trees can also be hazardous in high winds.”
