RAC and Tesco partner to give away 1 million Clubcard points

Ten lucky Tesco customers are being given the chance to win 100,000 each of Clubcard points when they use them to take out a breakdown policy with the RAC.

This would give them £1,000 to spend at Tesco, or with partners on a variety of activities such as eating out, holidays, or days out with the family.

Shoppers will automatically be entered into the competition when they convert their points to a Tesco Clubcard code for RAC Breakdown Cover between August 3 and 31st.

This means that not only will they get breakdown cover for free provided they have enough points – they could win a host of other savings.

Every 50p in points is worth £1 to spend with the RAC, and if customers don’t have enough points to get the breakdown cover they want, they can easily top their points up with a debit or credit card payment.

CEO of RAC Consumer Roadside Andy Baker said: “We’re delighted to partner with Tesco to be able to offer drivers the chance not only to get their breakdown cover with Tesco Clubcard points, but to win big too.

“With the cost of fuel rising once again, drivers will be looking for ways to keep costs down. At a time when money is tight for many, using Tesco Clubcard points is a great way to get essential RAC Breakdown Cover at great value, as well as being in with a chance to win £1,000 worth of points.”

RAC members can also save up to £200 on fuel, tyres, servicing and more through the myRAC app.

Record diesel price looms
RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: "The price of diesel continues to move steadily towards a new all-time high. A litre now averages 197.31p across the country, meaning it's just under 2p (1.78p) from surpassing the 199.09p record set on 25 June 2022, although we’re aware of many forecourts already charging in excess of this.

Fuel prices rise by a penny in 24 hours
RAC head of policy Simon Williams said: “Average pump prices have jumped by yet another penny in just a day. Petrol has now broken through the £1.70-a-litre barrier and stands at 170.54p – its highest since 23 August 2022 – and diesel has risen to 192.86p – its highest since 29 July 2022. Unfortunately for hard-pressed drivers, prices look set to keep on rising due to the cost of a barrel of oil consistently trading over the $100 mark.
