The RAC has been awarded a Silver rating by EcoVadis for its commitment to sustainability.

This accolade places the RAC among the top 15% of the 130,000 companies assessed globally by the world’s largest provider of business sustainability ratings.

EcoVadis evaluates organisations across environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement to assess their sustainability performance. Its methodology is recognised internationally and used by companies across sectors to benchmark and improve their environmental and social impact.

A Silver rating reflects the RAC’s significant progress in strengthening its sustainability strategy and progress towards decarbonisation. The business is aiming to achieve net zero by 2050 by optimising routes and driving behaviours, rolling out electric vans and using alternative fuels, reducing office emissions and waste and increasing sustainable procurement.

RAC chief executive Dave Hobday said: “The Silver rating is a strong endorsement of the work we’re doing to reduce our environmental footprint and operate responsibly. Being placed in the top 15% of companies globally is an important milestone, and one we’re committed to build on as we scale our breakdown, insurance and service, maintenance and repair divisions.

“As we continue to evolve our services, we remain focused on delivering an excellent member experience in a sustainable way.”
