RAC renews its long relationship with The Camping and Caravanning Club

Phil Ryan, RAC business roadside managing director, with Sabina Voysey, director general at the Camping and Caravanning Club

The RAC and The Camping and Caravanning Club have further strengthened their long-standing relationship, which goes back nearly 40 years, through the signing of a new five-year contract.

There are two key parts to the deal. Firstly, existing Club members purchasing a new Arrival policy receive a reduced premium and a £15 Club voucher redeemable against its UK sites, the Club’s overseas travel service or membership fees. Secondly, non-members who take out a new RAC Arrival breakdown policy benefit from 12 months’ Club membership included in their premium.

Designed exclusively for The Camping and Caravanning Club to give complete peace of mind for owners of caravans, motorhomes, campervans and trailer-tents, RAC Arrival is recognised as the best breakdown cover in the market for this type of recreational vehicle* and carries a five-star Defaqto rating. It provides roadside assistance, whether Club members are camping in the UK or Europe, or making an everyday car journey.

Arrival stands out from rival products as it offers numerous benefits including no weight or size restrictions for caravans or motorhomes, providing a suitably-powered hire car with a tow bar if available, help sourcing a replacement leisure battery and arranging for an RAC patrol to fit, with a two-year RAC warranty. Additionally, if a caravan or motorhome has a puncture, the RAC will fit the spare or source a replacement. Arrival also covers 350 days of travel in Europe and if the vehicle cannot be repaired before the member is due to return to the UK, the RAC will cover all costs to get it home.

Phil Ryan, RAC managing director of business roadside, said:

“We have built a very strong relationship with The Camping and Caravanning Club from many years of working closely together, and the signing of this new contract is recognition of each organisation’s trust in the other.

“Arrival is without doubt an unparalleled product in the breakdown service market, which is why it protects tens of thousands of caravan and motorhome owners every year. But aside from the quality of the product itself, RAC colleagues have years of experience and expertise of working with the Club, which they put to good use every day for members via our designated customer contact team.”

Darren Whittington, membership services director at The Camping and Caravanning Club, said:

“We are very pleased to be entering the next phase of our relationship with the RAC. Our members truly value the breakdown and recovery service that Arrival offers. The stress of breaking down, whether in the UK or abroad, can be great but experience tells us the RAC knows how to minimise this for all those involved.”

Following Amber warnings for snow and strong wind issued by the Met Office this week, RAC breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: “These relatively rare amber weather warnings for snow must be heeded by drivers.
